Christmas break I have started to smile more, laugh more, live more. I can actually say that I am happy in some fleeting moments. After 8 months of almost total isolation and no social life, it is weird to start falling back into the swing of things like seeing people more than once in a blue moon. I get to spend time with my best friends and not miss their entire lives because I’m too weak to stay awake for more than an hour at a time. I still struggle, it’s still slow and very random but I do get to go out once in a while. My BIG plans are mundane things like going to the movies or out to dinner, simplistic things. I’m growing strong enough where physical therapy might help and hopefully my new medications will too. This is all I can do until a real treatment is available and according to my doctors it might be sooner than I thought. Hopefully in the next 2 years there will be a drug trial that I can be enrolled in that will help me and others fighting this unknown autoimmune problem. I don’t think I would be here without the support of my family and close friends who have been there for me throughout these tough 7 years.
